Vanille Botanique is not a traditional gourmand vanilla. It is a gorgeous, seductive scent dominated by balmy, simmering jasmine. It manages to produce an effect that is, paradoxically, both sultry and restful. One of my favorite DSH fragrances, Vanille Botanique EdP has medium-high sillage and longevity.

I’ve finally found it!! This is the Holy Grail Vanilla!! Yes, it’s better than Guerlain SDV, Tobacco Vanille, Vanille 44, Vaniglia Del Madagascar, and all the rest. No synthetic notes…real vanilla bean extract!

This is an excellent fragrance! Very well blended. I honesty can’t say that I have smelled a vanilla fragrance like Vanille Botanique. I received a sample vial with a purchased order of a different fragrance and I was fascinated at the first sniff.

I agree with the previous reviewer. This may be my holy grail of vanilla. I have tried them all and the only thing I can tolerate wearing in Vanille 44 and April Aromatic Calling All Angels. The latter is very similar to this but much heavier. I get pure vanilla extract on the top note, which settles into a gorgeous soft balsamic quickly-soft, and both sexy and spiritual. Love it!

Very edible gourmand vanilla with less cookie and more floral subtleties with an undertone of balsamics. The luscious vintage style makes this feel like a vanilla version of dawn’s passport to paris which is a personal obsession.

DSH Perfumes – Vanille Botanique is one of the more popular offerings in her catalogue, from what I can tell, and one that’s been on my list to try for some time.
In trying the EDP form, it immediately lives up to its billing, a resinous and multifaceted vanilla that, while clearly indulging a vanilla fan like myself, nevertheless is not overwhelmingly sweet, let alone cake-like. Its ingredients seem to consist predominantly of a couple types of vanilla and several resins—labdanum, peru balsam, siam benzoin, tolu balsam—along with wee hints of citruses, rose, woods, and even civet, though I admittedly don’t detect much civet at all.
The blend balances the smoothness and sweetness of a vanilla/resin mix while providing some quirks in the form of the ever-so-slightly animalic touches of the resins, as well as the floral/citrus/woods mix that lies in the background. Again, it’s still mostly vanilla and sweet, creamy resins, but not predominantly to the point that it’s simple or monotonous.
It’s not quite as boastful as DSH Café Noir EDP, but the darker, spicier character of that fragrance might make for a louder start. Still, Vanille Botanique is dense and pungent.
A 60ml EDP bottle is priced at $235, no doubt in part due to the cost of raw materials, which, in the case of vanilla, has increased dramatically in recent years, it seemed, but as with the rest of her catalogue, there are a variety of sizes and formats available.
I think Vanille Botanique is great and it’s one I’ll consider buying, as it certainly deviates a bit from other vanillas in my collection.

Wow. This is my new favorite vanilla. As if Micallef Note Vanillee and Prada No9 Benjoin had a love child. I adore how the resinous, slightly boozy notes hold the natural vanilla in a sacred embrace. The vanilla is not cloying or overly sweet. It does soften the balsam and benzoin and labdanum, making it incredibly wearable. I have both the EDP and the VDP. They are both lovely, the EDP lasts a bit longer on my skin. This will be a winter staple for me.

A vanilla for grownups. This is so well blended and captures woods and resins and the star of the show the vanilla. This will change your expectation of how you want vanilla to smell in fragrance. It is an Elevated raise the bar type of scent. Think Angelique Noire but better….

I did not know what to make of this at first. If Vanilla were a flowering, sap-filled tree, it would smell like Vanille Botanique. Incredibly resinous with slight floral tones and rich dry down. Befuddled, I had to put this away for a little bit, coming back to it periodically. Now I’m addicted. A previous reviewer mentioned that this will change the way one wants vanilla to smell in perfumes. I think it accomplishes this as it changes the way one smells vanilla itself.

Vanille Botanique is not just my favorite vanilla perfume, it’s one of my favorite fragrances. It’s smooth and luxuriant and the civet note is amazingly botanical, which I appreciate.

I feel like a lot of vanillas that are described as “not too sweet” either turn out to be too sweet or they veer so strongly into the boozy/balsamic area that they lose sight of their vanilla-ness. This one really hits the mark on me. None of the sharp sugary sweetness that makes gourmand vanillas cloying in this fragrance. It’s delightfully balanced.

This is one of the more reviewed scents which indicates the enthusiasm and appreciation about this concoction. I don’t think I can add anything else to the expressive and erudite reviews, except that on me, more spice seems to come out. I don’t know exactly what it is that I am smelling (I really really want to visit the DSH Studio for an educational session, it’s on my bucket list…) but to my nose, it’s the thing that elevates this to the Adult Vanilla category. I am having a total brain-f-rt at the moment, but I have sampled the Serge Lutens
Bois Vanille (I think it’s called???) and that just seemed sort of… insipid compared to this Vanille Botanique. Where was the Bois??? At any rate, this is a power vanilla in the best way, my favorite by far of the Vanillas in the sampler/discovery set.

I deeply love the scent of ponderosa pines on a warm summer day. I always press my nose into the bark and inhale the deep vanilla pine smell, smearing my face in sticky pine sap so I may take it with me. Vanille Botanique evokes that bliss for me. The scent is long lasting like the sap too! This scent is set off by the warmth of skin as are the ponderosas by warm air and sun. It can fill the room with mind-stopping delight, as proclaimed by my co-worker who charged into our office one day on a mission, took a sniff, stopped, forgot everything, and was evoked into some sort of sweet warmth within herself. This is powerful stuff.

Most vanillas as too sugary, heavy or loud for me, it’s not an easy note for me. This, surprisingly makes Vanilla light, wearable and utterly addictive. I’ve found my HG of Vanilla scents!

It’s fabulous. One of my signature scents. Every time I wear it people tell me I smell good. It’s also so comforting and lasts all day, I’ve been wearing this now for maybe two years and I don’t tire of it. Each time I apply it, I still think holy smokes this is so good!

A light and inoffensive (not too sweet or cloying) well-rounded vanilla that has some floral elements; it isn’t overly vanilla or overly floral, a nice middle ground between the two, with a slight tinge of bright and herbal bergamot. I can see why this is one of the best selling scents as it’s lovely and would appeal to most anyone and could work in any season. For me it is not quite what I’m looking for in a vanilla perfume so I wouldn’t want a full bottle, however will enjoy my sample and am glad to have tried it!

This smelled quite citrusy in the bottle, but on my skin, it’s a warm, balsamic vanilla with bright, sparkling resins and the barest hint of bergamot
As it dries, rich, creamy labdanum and woodsy amber smooth and darken the resins, while the silk of soft white florals brings out the complexity of the vanilla. A deep, golden vanilla-amber forms, though a glimmer of the original brightness shines through.
This is a beautifully complex vanilla-amber, highly recommended for fans of DSH Vanilla Bourbon Intense, the base is very similar but the labdanum is more creamy, and there’s more soft woods. Also, after the first hour, the sheer florals and resinous citrus move to the forefront. I’ll have to get a larger size of this one, it’s rich and warm, but the botanical notes will likely make it possible to wear year-round, even in my humid area.

The perfect smoked vanilla!
This scent opens with a beautifully decadent vanilla — dark vanilla bean paste whipped into chilled, rich cream. It’s soon followed by swirls of dark, buttery caramel, deepened by notes of coconut and tonka bean. This is delicious, like caramel creme brulee and French vanilla custard.
Though this opens as a fairly straightforward gourmand, it’s slowly infused with subtle notes of rich, labdanum, balancing the sweetness with the help of warm, nutty sandalwood. A pale, gauzy veil of delicate vanilla falls over the scent, giving this decadent, amber gourmand a soft, smooth finish.
While I usually wouldn’t go for something this gourmand, the fragrance of such high-quality vanilla combined with the luxurious textures makes this impossible to resist.

Something very intriguing about this particular scent, though I personally wouldn’t wear it out of the house as it’s a bit too unusual for wearing in public. I like it as a personal scent at home. It’s vanilla, but with resinous qualities that make it a bit boozy and almost medicinal. Makes me envision some lost tonic in an old apothecary.

There is vanilla (meh) and there is Vanilla. The real deal. Rich, velvety, alluring, confident, intriguing, not too sweet, powerful but not overpowering, lacking nothing, everything is just right. I don’t detect the jasmine, bergamot, etc. undertones mentioned above (if you do and you like it, great! :)). I do detect Vanilla with a capital V, though. And I love it.

I really enjoy this one. It starts out rather unique and reminds me of a very warm anise sort of scent. Not exactly ‘vanilla’, if you will. Definitely herbaceous when it first is applied. As it dries down, you will notice more of a very rich vanilla extract in the undertone. As time passes, the anise aroma fades, leaving dark vanilla. My only gripe is that this scent doesn’t seem to stick around very long on my skin or hair when compared to Vanilla Bourbon Intense.

This smells like luxury; every note is elegant and has a veil of shimmering abstraction over it. The woods are polished and warm, the vanilla never cloying, and I pick up a slightly caramelized and boozy tone that adds another veil of complexity and class to it. The jasmine element is more like an association rather than the real flower, and I think should be perfectly agreeable to people who are skeptical of white florals. This is a crowd pleaser for a reason, without sacrificing sophistication and artistry.

Disclaimer: I’m a novice at fragrances, so maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about. However, i don’t detect bergamot or any of the listed top notes. To me the opening is strongly reminiscent of an excellent craft root beer: herbal, slightly spicy, and effervescent despite having a bit of creaminess. The dry down is a more recognizable (and very beautiful) resinous vanilla. My VdP rollerball projects at initial application but turns to a skin scent as it dries down.
It’s taken me about a year of repeated wears to fully appreciate this masterfully blended fragrance but I’m a fan now! I agree with others who call this a sophisticated vanilla for grownups.

Vanille Botanique is a rich, balsamic vanilla with a smooth, classical warmth rather than anything overly sugary if that makes sense. The soft jasmine note adds a floral lift that keeps it from feeling heavy or one dimensional. Bergamot brings a subtle brightness at the edges, giving the composition balance and clarity. As it settles, it becomes creamy and rounded while staying elegant and composed. A refined vanilla that feels natural, soft, and quietly polished. Definitely a wear for day or night!
