Mirabella is a magnificent multifaceted scent, well suited to wear for evening endeavors, although suitable for any season or time of day. Starts floral and fruity bringing to mind tuberose flowers, cherry blossoms and fruit, the colors pink and purple, with subtle spiciness of patchouli lingering in the background. Mirabella dries down to a resinous beeswax, sandalwood, with subtle animalic nuances, and a subtle hint of patchouli holding in the background. A luxurious, beautiful fragrance. I used the sample vile within a couple of days, dousing and sniffing repeatedly. Need to have a bottle for home and purse!

Mirabella is a sophisticated scent. The sillage is impressive when first applied. Within a few hours it settles down into a lovely powdery floral. IMO, it is most suited to evenings and special occasions. It reminds me of classic high-end perfume, just gorgeous.

This fragrance is DIVINE. I won’t even attempt the audacity of analyzing its delicious effect stage by stage (another reviewer has already done so far better than I could), but it is truly one of Dawn Spencer Hurwitz’s triumphs. Having already powered through my EdP sample, I’ve now moved on to order the perfume with which to tinge my days and nights with loveliness.

I’m in love with this fragrance! It’s intoxicating! Will be reordering soon.

This perfume breaks my heart. I literally can’t stop burying my face into my arm when I’m wearing this. It’s a huge floral punch with the civety darkness I absolutely live for. Sadly on me it evaporates into nearly nothing within a few hours. I expect to purchase a bottle some day in spite of its fleetingness because it is simply breathtaking in its sophistication. It makes me nostalgic for intangible things I can’t put into words.

Another modern retro masterpiece from the artist Dawn Spencer Hurwitz. I put off ordering Mirabella for 2 years because I have some probably misfounded ideas about natural perfumes not holding up well but I’m glad I got past that. So much going on in this rich, plummy, floriental, chypre; I’m not going to attempt a full breakdown. Some things that particularly move me are beeswax notes, oakmoss, civet, resin, Tuberose, leather, rose, osmanthus. I have extrait and edp, both seem to last around 6 to 8 hours from start to finish for me which is good with my dry perfume eating skin. I’m crazy enough to wear it at home with my cats but this is elegant stuff, it would be perfect for an evening out (and it’s sexy enough for an evening in) A treat for lovers of French style perfumery and vintages brought to new life.

This is a glorious perfume that reminds me of what glamorous movie stars would wear in the heyday of Hollywood. It almost calls out for fur stoles and long gloves. But though it is comparable to great vintage scents of the past, Mirabella is modern enough to wear anytime you want to be the star of your own movie.

  8. Amy Smolek –

Mirabella is rich, complex, and glittery – not like sequins, but like tiny little diamonds (refined, not tacky). It feels classic but not dated, and I would gladly bathe in it. An absolute triumph, and though it is very well-suited to a night out in a long burgundy dress, I also like to wear it around the house – it’s one of my go-tos when I need a fragrant pick-me-up. Adore.

I ordered this sample (VdP) two years ago and just now tried it. It’s really quite yummy.

I smell a lot of osmanthus, and a warm animal-y smell that puts me in mind of a warm, cuddly, brown kitty cat. This is probably the civet, really well-paired with the osmanthus. Neither note is overblown.

Though I could be blowing smoke, as I don’t know exactly what castoreum does. Maybe that has a hand in this feeling/smell as well.

I really smell osmanthus, not plum.

It was stronger when I applied, and a couple of hours in, it’s not very strong at all.

All in all, I love it and wish it was slightly less expensive, because I’d jump on a full bottle!

A full bodied stunning floral fruited completely hypnotic dry chypre. Exquisite, elegant, sophisticated. A perfume out of time, gorgeous.
