This is a gorgeous fragrance in every way. It’s unmistakably vanilla-centered, but it’s got so much personality. The creamy, sugary notes are airy-powdery, and the warming spices add just the right touch, ensuring this stays pretty without ever becoming cloying. I’ve worn this a few days in a row, and every person I’ve been with has said to me that I smell “so good” or “lovely” or “beautiful”. This is not reminiscent of Houbigant’s iconic Chantilly perfume, which was inspired by fine lace. Vanilla Chantilly is pure “crème Chantilly” (sweet whipped cream) nommé après le Château de Chantilly, (de la Maison de Montmorency). It lasts from bath to bath, and it’s wonderfully tenacious on clothing; getting deeper and drier as the hours pass. The quality is outstanding, of course, making this fun, light-hearted perfume a treasure to own and to wear.

My. God. Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Vanilla Chantilly is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I had been searching for a comforting milk-vanilla scent, and this just fits the bill without any uncomfortable musk or notes that are too perfume-y. This is very much a soothing, foody skin scent.
When I first apply it, I smell milky vanilla, but just a whisper. Unlike other fragrances, which tend to be loudest upon application and really hit you with the top notes, this one starts out soft. I kept turning my head (I apply in the baby hairs at the sides of my neck) to make sure I could really smell it. The scent does grow stronger after some wear, but it does remain a skin scent, so don’t expect wild sillage.
As the fragrance wears, I smell a lightly nutty cream, almost like buttercream or the scent of a scoop of whipped cream and nuts from the top of a sundae. This really is just a delightful fragrance. I’m surprised that Au Lait is a more popular scent in this line, because this is basically what I had hoped for when I sampled Au Lait.
I plan on buying myself a full bottle of this in the future, now that I’ve sampled it. If you’re looking for the ultimate comfort scent that you can sleep in or wear just for yourself, even in public, definitely try Vanilla Chantilly. If Ava Luxe Milk or Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Au Lait didn’t work for you (they didn’t for me because of the perfumey musk), this might be exactly what you want. This is gentle self-love in a bottle.

I’ve liked other vanilla perfumes, but this one is something special. It is sweet without being too sweet and subtle on—just enough scent. I found the rollerball scent to have more staying power than the voile. I wish more of the scents had this option. Highly recommend!

I love gourmand scents and I love this gem even more. I have it in perfume oil, that goes very well with me and lasts all day. You do get a modest (but not shouting) sillage with it. Except for vanilla I seem to pick up a marsipan-like smell (but that might just be my perception as I do not see that listed as notes). However: it is a winner and a keeper!

This is a gorgeous vanilla. Perhaps it’s the skin scent, but this vanilla is sophisticated. It’s the kind of vanilla-based scent that’s clean and classy. It’s what I’d wear if I were dressing up to go out. It’s light and uplifting.

I have been obsessed with vanilla recently, and have been trying to find a fragrance that had a rich vanilla scent, but wasn’t too heavy or cloying. This is it. Imagine a flower that smelled like Vanilla. Its light, creamy, soothing, and sensual. It says close to the skin, so you dont leave behind a “perfumy cloud” wherever you go. Its subtle enough to wear to the office, yet elegantly sensual for a night out. Its easily a go-to signature scent if you are a vanilla fan.

I was gifted a sample vial of this from another perfume seller because we traded fragrances. To be honest, i didn’t try this for weeks, the other day i found it in my drawer and decided to give it a try. This smells amazing, i get a very subtle vanilla with a strong aroma of warm almonds sprinkled with some cinnamon. This scent is so warm and comforting, i couldn’t stop bringing my wrist to my nose! My husband who rarely comments on my perfume took a double take upon entering the room, babe is it you that smells so delicious? I am using my vial sparingly as i save up for a full size bottle!

This is a gorgeous, creamy smooth vanilla with a gentle spicy kick. My husband loves this, which is super rare because he’s extremely picky. This is one of my favorite vanillas, and I’m so happy I discovered it. Well done!

Absolutely loving this! My favorite from the Vanilla sampler. Very comforting scent, it’s like an olfactory hug. Not too sweet, and hitting the right spot. I wish it were stronger though, it’s too discreet for me. I like bold scents.

This is a very plush, airy vanilla that reminds me a bit of the smooth vanilla base in Burnt Sugar Vanilla. However, as it dries it becomes much more creamy and musky — it’s not a heavy musk at all, but there’s a sweet warmth there, a bit like Egyptian Musk, which enhances the vanilla’s fragrance. Delicately sweet spices emerge, though they’re extremely sheer, adding a subtle brightness to the top notes.

There’s something so unique about the vanillas I’ve tried from this house. There’s a spicy almost incense quality to them. That’s what I smelled when I first put on Vanilla Chantilly. As it dried down the light and airy sweet creaminess came through. This is a gorgeous vanilla with a touch of spices that are whisper soft, elevating it to something truly special.

I have been going through Vanilla samples trying to find one I really really like. I think my skin naturally pulls a little towards sweet smelling (based on what people have told me) and often sweeter perfumes end up too sweet on me very quickly. I couldn’t pick up on the spice or cream notes very much on my skin and it almost smelled almondy and cake like. I wish I had the same experience as the other reviewers since their descriptions are beautiful but it didn’t work well for my body chemistry. Even with that, it smells like a well balanced perfume on a test strip.

The perfect vanilla for Vanilla Lovers! I wasn’t expecting this turn out to be so strong, but I got amazing projection results with this creamy vanilla. This is a traditional vanilla that never goes ‘too’ sweet, but stays tasteful, never cloying. It’s a fluffy cloud of vanilla cream, perhaps only a hint of powder as it dries down. I didn’t notice any spice with this one, and that is just fine. I would consider this a general crowd-pleasing vanilla.
