Like DSH’s Michelangelo, this is a very strong, dark, super masculine scent.

Look at the ingredients, no floral or fruit notes to lighten the effect – all resins and leaves.

This begins with a very bitter wood and turpentine blast, but like all DSH scents, one must let it calm down before judging it. The oak moss, olibanum, myrrh, patchouli and juniper berry all add up to a slightly nutty incense masterpiece that is also reminiscent of a rich tobacco.

All brown and green and earthy – even after it loses its bitterness, it never loses its strength – one of DSH’s best masculines.

I wish I had a more sophisticated nose and more experience writing perfume reviews so that I could truly describe twelfth night . It is definitely a solstice scent, reminding me of a cold still night in the center of a forest in winter. The centerpiece is a deep rich Francinsense surrounded by woods ( I can’t really tell what kind of trees they are though I think I can smell some pine , cedar and juniper. Myrrh adds even more depth and a hint of sweetness. Although I can see why many people might think that this fragrance is masculine, to me it seems like a great scent for a woman when you are feeling powerful rather than strictly feminine ( much more like the Priestess than the Empress in the tarot deck.). There is something very mysterious, quiet, deep and still about Twelfth Night. It’s the type of fragrance that I like to wear when I’m feeling introspective and desire to be alone.
