Description
Sometimes the call of the wild is a howl in a night of stars, bright against a frozen moon. Sometimes it is a quiet murmur like a soft grey winter sky. Always, the lone wolf is searching… on a quest to find what is needed to navigate the world. They look, and find beauty, scarcity, mystery, loneliness; the light and the dark of things.
The lone wolf sees the world through unique eyes and brings back all they have learned to give to the pack. Finally, they sit content in a grey cocoon of cozy, warm belonging.

Seul Loup (Lone Wolf) is the first in of our 20205 “Fauna” theme for our Heirloom Elixir series exploring aniamlics and the animals themselves in their habitat, with their particular coloring, texture, and vibe. As with many of my animalic fragrances, I have chosen a focal note that the entire fragrance spirals out from, and with Seul Loup it is costus. While costus is is actually a plant (the root is used to derive the note), it imparts a warm skin / oily fur / bed-head kind of scent (along with hefty bags…) but when used carefully, costus brings a unique sensation to leather / erogenous / fur texture perfumes.
While Seul Loup is a costus focal fragrance, it also explores the sense of grey fur coloring, the mix of rough and soft textures of wolf fur, and the ferrel / solitary nature of the wolf. There’s a brooding sensuality and sexiness to the overall design that speaks to our inner wild side.

Very cozy musky animalic! It’s not stinky by any means but instead ambery and slightly warm. The honey musk really comes out in the drydown. It’s pretty reminiscent of Chinchilla to my nose but feels “cooler”, with moderate protection and good longevity. I tried this in a sample dabber so I expect a spray would give an even better experience.

Feels like burying your face in a fur coat , with a distant grounding amber – or a hug from your freakishly tall distant uncle with a heart of gold. This perfume MELTS into my skin, I could see someone thinking you just smell “good” and not realize it’s a fragrance. Big and warm, mildly intimidating, but never menacing.

This smells like an erotic encounter in the woods on a pleasantly warm summer night. This is a MUST smell for any deer musk lovers
