A soft, warm and cozy ‘kitten’ fur skin scent fragrance; an entrance animalic perfume for those who are curious but not ready to dive into the ‘deep end’ of the funk.  (It’s very wearable and totally unisex).

Description

The original Defender of the Galaxy: Orion.  (No, not the ancient warrior that the constellation is named for, but the fabulous cat from the original “Men In Black” movie who guards the miniature galaxy that hangs like a charm on his belt).

When considering a new, soft and comforting animalic fur design, I was immediately drawn to the idea of cats and kittens… but how to go about it?  (I am actually allergic to cats, so I couldn’t do much hands on research… but I LOVE cats and kittens anyway).  I sat and meditated on the concept for a long time before I arrived at one cat that I have always loved: Orion from MIB.  He’s cuddly AND strong.  (Plus, I gotta admit: I love the name).

I got this as a sample and I immediately ordered a full bottle. It’s sexy and a little dirty, it smells like a date night fragrance and I love it. It’s sweet and something about it smells like a summer night to me, sweaty but not stinky? I don’t know. I just really love this.

  2. Megan

My partner got this for me as a surprise gift, and I was so pleasantly surprised at how lovely it is. (And he loves it too.) It smells warm and fuzzy without being overwhelming. It’s the perfect date night scent and an easy reach no matter the weather.

I fostered a tiny kitten for a week. He sauntered into my house like he owned the place. He stalked my dog, scaled the pantry trying to steal food, and even bit my roommate in the face while she was playing with him. He also loved hard: he cuddled and purred with abandon. I feel like Orion is his perfume. It is a warm, honeyed fur scent with a woody/resinous edge. I wouldn’t call this entry level. Maybe less animalic, but definitely assertive under that cuddly ball of fur.

Oh wow, this is so soft and soothing! Pale, lactonic notes blend with sweetly balsamic skin musk, a creamy blend that evokes warm milk and fuzzy cashmere.

I wasn’t expecting more to change since the opening fit the description quite neatly. However, a rich, animalic musk emerges, and its creamy warmth is quickly deepened with a swirl of smooth, golden nectar. At first, I thought the animalic note might be a bit strong for some people, but the soft, milky musk of the opening soon returns to the forefront, snugly wrapped around the deeper musk. This is very soft and comforting and a great introduction to animalics.

I get milk, fur, musk, and a little balsam sweetness. Incredible. I haven’t smelled anything like this. I go back and forth with animalics, sometimes I really don’t like them, but this is the second “furry” fragrance of Dawn’s that I’ve smelled and I love them both. It’s somehow a little dirty but also a little clean. Very cozy. I’m blown away by how accurate the descriptions are, it makes me feel comfortable blind buying anything she makes.

I get the fur musk, but would barely consider this animalic so if you are curious about that style this is perfect to try. This is plush and cozy. I get a tiny pop of flowers, warm soft cuddly musk (kind of like cashmere but more flavor). Later on ambrette and creamy sandalwood are what my nose is getting. It finishes a delightful warm lactonic scent.

What a beautiful, soft, warm, and cozy musk. Slightly sweet and milky, with a bit of a deeper (but not at all overwhelming or scary) musk emerging later on and mingling in with the beginning notes. Reminds me of sticking my nose in my cat’s belly.

This is the first animalic scent I’ve tried, so I wasn’t sure what to expect (and also please take my review with a grain of salt as I lack the vocabulary for animalics). This surprisingly did bring to mind cozy cat fur, but I found it a bit too strong for my tastes. As it dried down, the kitten fur became less intense and I could smell something like honey coming through. Overall, I found this to be a very interesting scent, but I don’t think it’s for me.

Very much evocative of the soft texture of cat fur! The fuzziness is uncanny and a delight for the nose. It’s lightly sweet with a milky muskiness. This is not very animalic if that’s what you’re looking for, but definitely a great place to start if you’re unsure of wanting to wear animalics in general.

This one is not for me personally as I’m looking for something darker and More animalic, but the wonderful thing about Dawn’s creations is even the ones that aren’t for me I can totally get and appreciate the beauty and artistry and for that reason this still gets 5 stars in my book!

This was my free sample. It is everything I have ever wanted! It is beautiful, soft, comforting, sweet, it is magical.. I never want to be without this.

Ahh… There’s a “Honey Musk” note listed for this, and that comes out very strongly for me, enough to prevent me from naming this as a realistic cat fur fragrance (cats do smell just slightly sweet, but its very subtle!). I think I get lots of nutty ambrette seed from this, though I’m not 100% familiar with the note, mixed with fuzzy and lactonic undertones

First, in the vial: whiskey! GOOD whiskey! Deep and a little sweet, but not too sweet.
After swiping on my wrist: I can detect a “furriness”… cozy, mellow; a little less whiskey-like… Not super “funky,” but reminds me a little of the saliva scent of a cat who’s just licked itself. (Not offensive, though!)
Comforting– feels “affectionate,” in a way. Very soft.
Swiped more on my skin; now I’m getting more whiskey, too. (Irish whiskey?)
It’s grown-up, confident, but not scary. And unisex.

This is my favorite musk fragrance of all time. It smells exactly like a freshly-groomed cat, warm fur and soft breath and all. It’s extremely comforting and all the notes blend together in a soft, hazy halo of fragrance. It’s an extremely approachable animalic, and a great place to start if you’re unsure of animalics generally.
