My classical amber perfume made more balsamic and rich with a classic floral heart, and subtle green, spicy tones in the topnote. The perfect amber scent for those of us who love amber fragrances but usually find them too sweet to wear.
Ambre, a luscious soft amber that whispers winter is here, roll in bed with me. Many amber perfumes slap you in the face with a harsh beginning. This Ambre, is gentle and ever so lightly powdery soft. Nice for perfume lovers that do not want to be obnoxious with their entrance and instead blow in like a gentle breeze. Amber, softened with gentle beeswax and resins melted together seem to stand out in this fragrance to me.

Ambre captured me on the very first whiff–the drydown then simply seduced me into a delicious thrall. This is a wonderful amber, far superior to the usual dense and fierce Oriental with (so often) a raspy sweetness. Sexy and comforting at the same time, with a roundness that merely implies the rich background, without entangling you in the voluptuous sweaty bed sheets of an exhaustive night.

I received a sample of this with another order and I love it! Years ago, we bought a very old house in the mountains that had been unoccupied for a long time. This reminds me of the aroma of that house when we first arrived. To me it smells like old wood with a touch of greenery and deep florals encased in warm amber. There is a calm stillness about this that I find relaxing. When I wear it, all I need to do is smell my wrist and any stress I am feeling just melts away.

Usually amber fragrances are too sweet for me but the beeswax and balsams here round and soften this out. This fragrance actually started my obsession with beeswax and balsamic notes. The beeswax doesn’t read like honey to me, which would be too sweet, but more herbal and truly the smell of a high-quality wax.

How have I never tried this before!? If you are an Amber lover like I am then this is a must sniff. I think one of the great judges of a perfumer’s creativity is their ability to craft a successful yet unique amber fragrance. Here, Dawn puts herself into a class with perfumers like Jean Laporte for L’Artisan, Christopher Sheldrake for Serge Lutens, and Rania J. This Amber has shimmers of classic orientals due to its judicious use of both bright citrus notes with warm balms and woods (think Shalimar), but the myrrh really grounds the composition and prevents it from ever becoming too sweet. I think it’s pretty much perfect, and so bought a full bottle!
