Description

Could there be a more dazzling and opulent creature than the peacock?  Its shimmering iridescence of the richest blue and green hues imaginable  seem to be dusted in gold powder; a testament to its astonishing beauty.  And those mezmerising ‘eyes’ in their feathers…otherworldly.

At the end of the year, with the Holiday Season and New Year celebrations approaching, conceiving of a ‘familiar’ to befit the season and complete the ‘Fauna’ series, it seemed only too natural to choose the peacock for inspiration.

What came first for Peacock Blue was a pairing: blue lotus and oud (thus the “blue oud” concept).  Of course as oud is a truly a spectrum note (to my mind there is no one ‘oud’ that speaks to all of the possible facets and tell the whole story of such a beguiling material), I have created a unique oud accord for Peacock Blue; one which uses 6 different oud materials  of different regions and genus’ to produce the perfect quality of lusciousness that I wanted.  For the top and heart note accords I combined precious blue lotus absolute with Indian rose, Jasmine, frankincense, and sandalwood topped with sultry mango skin and champa leaf absolute.

The result is not only extraordinarily beautiful (IMHO); refined and elegant, but with a touch of wild eccentricity and exquisite charm.  For me, it might be this eccentricity that is the true essence of Peacock Blue.

An absolute stunner! On my skin, it develops as an almost apricot suede accord with a warm, sweet, powdered wood drydown. Both the sillage and longevity here are outstanding. Easily unisex, this has none of the barnyard gasoline bitterness of other oud scents; this peacock is quite refined! And though an array of florals help build the composition, I don’t think this wears as a traditional floral composition. Easily one of my favorites from Dawn.
