Be delicious! This perfume starts out with a strong almond extract note, but just wait: in a few minutes, the warm bottom notes rise up mellow and sweet, without being powdery. This scent left me awash in memories, not only of Christmas and all the little stocking stuffers of my childhood (torrone, marzipan, hot cocoa with vanilla-bean flecked whipped cream), but also of Jordan almonds. I sat through many weddings when I was a little girl, dawdling over these candy-coated pastel confections, as I watched the bride and groom twirl around the dance floor and imagined my own wedding day. I would wear this perfume throughout the cooler season, anytime I need a little sweetness in my day, or whenever I feel like indulging in a daydream about everlasting love.

Absolutely love this. Such a delight to wear. The almond is intoxicating.

DSH Perfumes Marzipan is fittingly a scent smelling of the almond confection, in fact with more life than marzipan itself, which I generally find to be pretty subtle. The fragrance opens as a sharp, sweet, boozy amaretto, with almost a cherry quality to it, but quickly dries down to more of a subtle confectionery-type blend, still robust but feeling more completely blended and settled. There’s also a creamy quality to it that takes it away from being wholly boozy and amaretto-like, while still having both of those elements. It’s an instant winner for me, as I love almond and amaretto scents, and it easily has a place among my favorite almond-dominant fragrances along with Hilde Soliani Orgasmo.

I absolutely love the smell of almond extract, marzipan, amaretto. I have tried many scents with these notes, but they just don’t seem to work very well on my skin. Unfortunately, the same goes here. In my sample vial, Marzipan satisfies that almond dessert craving, but after a few minutes I turn it to playdough. It’s not you, it’s me!

I bought this in the scented body lotion with the idea of slathering it all over myself before bed when I am utterly stressed out. This did not disappoint. (I bought Au Lait for the same reason.) I adore almond scents: they remind me of when I was a little girl and my mother was doing her holiday baking, either using prepared marizpan, or adding almond extract to something. It is warm and comforting, foodie, but not overly so. It isn’t the most complex fragrance in the world, but then again, it is not trying to be! During a particularly hectic day at work a while back, I worked up quite a sweat and I’d get these waftings of lovely marzipan that put me in a MUCH better head space. If you love almonds/marzipan, I don’t think a person can go wrong with this little delicacy.

Oh wow, this is amazingly realistic, exactly like opening up fresh marzipan — that chewy, golden sweetness with the familiar cherry-like aroma wafting out of the tin. However, this captures the nuance that most almond perfumes lack, like the natural, fruity top notes with hints of dark cherries and smooth amaretto liqueur. Soon, the fragrance of bitter almonds moves to the forefront, alongside a drizzle of deep, amber honey. The two combine with the sweet fruits to create the distinctive scent of freshly made marzipan.

A rich base is forming, as the chewy, ground almonds are combined with creamed butter, spiced brown sugar, toasted tonka beans, and a generous splash of warm, boozy vanilla. A delicate rose petal tops each piece of marzipan, adding a soft, silky floral note that is quite sheer but beautifully highlights the scent’s complexity

I was so hoping this would be the beautiful cherry perfume of my dreams, and in the bottle this was everything I wanted: public bathroom foaming cherry almond hand wash in the best way. Sadly, once on my skin the cherry vanished almost immediately. What I was left with was a vaguely sweet, muskier scent that I definitely didn’t hate, but wasn’t what I was after. I’m glad other people seem to have had more success with this but it just didn’t seem to work on me! Too bad.
