In the early morning when the garden is mist-filled and dew-laden, the spring flowers come alive with their dance. All soft blues and violets awaken to their day giving rise to beauty, pleasure, and sweetness; this tender part of the garden is awash in violets, irises, and gorgeous lilacs.
Created for the “Giverny In Bloom” project – scent experience at Denver Art Museum, La Danse des Bleus et des Violettes evokes the moist dirt, powdery sweetness of violets, the fruity-anise-laced floralcy of blue irises, and the elusive perfume of lilacs. “La Danse…” is another impressionist take on the floral bouquet perfume, this time made gauzy and luminous by the addition of watery mineral notes and subtle, blond woods.

Just exquisite. I’ve always loved the scent of these flowers in their natural state, but rarely in perfumes; here, they’re held back from being too tooth-achingly sweet by a masterful blend that keeps them in the garden with the leaves and a little of the dirt.

This is now one of my favorites—a wonderful violet with a bit of earth in the middle. It smells fantastic and reminds me of a fragrance I smelled in Torino.

This is a gauzy floral atmospheric complete with a realistic mineral impression of rained-over or wet soil. Fragrant blooms nod their heads to the splashing of a garden fountain while tender and sincere confessions are whispered as the band plays off in the near distance. The violets blend into the other blue and purple notes and the drydown holds a woody undertone that adds to the imagery of a romantic garden scene in Old New York or your favourite Edith Wharton or Henry James classic.

La Danse des Bleus et des Violettes is pale purple in a bottle. Slightly sweet and powdery purple flowers are soft and feminine in this fragrance. The violet is the star, but the other notes are blended beautifully into the composition. I highly recommend this one if you’re a violet lover.

Violet is perhaps my favorite floral note, and I love the full spectrum, from positively candied to sheer to classic, lipstick-y rose blends. The plum and iris here bring richness and nuance, rare among the many violets I’ve tried.
