Description
Hot Masala is another fragrance design partially borne out of the “Isolation / Meditation” series of drawings, and with an added inspiration that I have been contemplating for over a decade (when I first encountered this name). I loved the name, “Hot Masala” or Hot Mix, but would always come back to one question: how to put it together? This series of drawings made from household items (tea washes, charcoal, and spices) helped bring the idea into focus for me.
Now, more than ever, when the world seems to be falling apart, we need to find nourishment, balance, grounding and at the same time beauty (!). Soaring, hopeful beauty, that could express new heights to strive towards.
Hot Masala’s design began with a golden milk accord (so nourishing to body and soul) and a ‘mix’ of sexy tropical jasmines, rich resins, and exotic spices. The result is sensuously satisfying and spiritually fulfilling.

I recently sampled 8 different DSH scents and Hot Masala is my absolute favorite of the bunch. I wouldn’t think to combine the creamy golden milk, spicy elements with floral jasmine and attar, but wow is it intoxicatingly beautiful! It’s somehow warm, comforting and sexy and the same time. Definitely going to reorder this. If you’re thinking of trying it, I highly recommend.

I went through a 10ml roller of Hot Masala in record time. It’s quite nice, though not my usual fragrance style. My spouse really liked it on me. It’s a comforting scent, and I often wore it at night. I recommend Hot Masala to anyone who wants a soft natural coconut fragrance.

Wow! This smells exactly like a honey-sweetened mug of turmeric spiced milk. I don’t feel sexy wearing this scent so would probably wear it on a rainy day when I need a comforting scent to warm me up. Or at bedtime when I want to snuggle in with a good movie or book.

this smells (and feels!) exactly like a hot cup of chai – that feeling of holding the cup between your palms, taking in the spices – it’s so warm and cozy and lasts beautifully. perfect for a rainy afternoon!!

This is deliciously seductive — buttery, golden musk swirled with smooth resins, and indolic, almost animalic, jasmine. The spices are surprisingly delicate — airy cardamom with spicy, woodsy myrrh, both brightened with a hint of sweet frankincense. I expected the spices to overwhelm this for me, but they are extremely subtle and balanced. And as someone who loves creamy scents, the balmy lactonic notes and waxy, fragrant jasmine made me fall in love.
This is a sultry, warm fragrance but there’s also a sense of languid relaxation that evokes images of palace gardens and days spent lounging in luxury.

Delicious, realistic Golden Milk fragrance with a beautiful resinous base that is nearly the embodiment of “cozy.” If you’re an avid fan of turmeric milk, waxy jasmine florals and resins, this is a must try.
Stupendous.

Heady, seductive, and powerfully creamy! For me the strongest spice is the turmeric, and it’s wonderfully fresh and woody! Nothing like sniffing the dried and powdered kitchen spice, this is the crisp pungency of chopping into the raw living rhizome. It balances the thick buttery tones of the milk and indolic jasmine beautifully. A fantastic concept with incredible execution.

One of my favorites from my order; the description is very true. The golden milk/masala spices are realistic and the most prominent part of the scent: warm, comforting, lactonic and sweet, not too harsh. As it dries down, the jasmine and attars come out more. The jasmine is indeed indolic; I very much enjoy this but YMMV. The attars are woody, earthy, a bit sharp, and help to add some atmosphere to the scent.
