Description
In the middle of winter I always go to my beach things and open the box to breathe in the scent. It’s the beach blanket that holds all of my memories of days spent at the shore hearing the waves crash, feeling the sun on my shoulders, and smelling the mix of salt, sand, the sea, and invariable the suntan oil I love. (In fact I love two: the creamy coconut scented ones and classic bain de soleil that I’ve used since childhood).
This is the scent of Beach Blanket perfume. Now, I can even wear this intoxicating aroma all year long.

Well, now I know for sure. I’ve suspected for some time that Dawn is actually an alchemist rather than merely a perfumer. Beach Blanket confirms my theory. Somehow she has actually captured the experience of being at the beach ( and the car ride home) in a bottle. The whole experience is right here: suntan oil, sea air, sand and sun. I don’t even know what sunshine smells like but it’s in Beach Blanket. Many fragrances have reminded me of events or places in my past. This one actually transports me to a beach vacation from my childhood. This opens with a strong scent of coconut. But unlike Maui, which smells like the tropical fruit, this is the coconut of suntan lotion slathered onto salt skin at the beach. It then morphs into an entire beach day including the sweet tired feeling that you feel at the end of the day. Just magic!

This is the most realistic coconut sunscreen smell I’ve ever encountered (outside of actual sunscreen, obviously). But it’s a really nice sunscreen, not chemical-smelling at all, and Beach Blanket isn’t the smell of sunscreen right out of the bottle as you’re applying–it’s the lingering smell of sunscreen on your skin after you’ve been outside for a couple of hours. Basically this is perfect, is what I’m saying.

I really love this one! It’s going to be my go to for the summer. If you love the scent of sunscreen then beach blanket is the one for you.

This is a ridiculous perfume. Ridiculously good. It was either going to be excellent, or horrible, and it’s the former, not the latter. At first, I wasn’t into it, something hit me a little off when I first applied it. The coconut suntan lotion accord smelled basic and unpleasant, too sharp and sweet. But I moved around last night, doing whatever it was I was doing, and it bloomed and changed quite beautifully. Not at all linear, we have a beautiful top, middle, and bottom perfume pyramid here. It smells comforting as heck, and also just – GOOD.
Second day, second wearing, and I didn’t get that strange, sharp/sweet smell hitting me in the noseholes this time, it was just comforting beachy goodness from the get-go. Longevity topped out at about 4 hours for me on a 100 degree F day using the Voile de Parfum, and not a ton applied. I’d like to see what happens with the longevity using the oil essence. Top notch, top marks! FBW.
Made me feel sessy.

I am so happy to have discovered DSH and this beach blanket perfume. It hits such a nostalgic note, of the Ban de Soleil Orange Gelee, even with a little texture on my skin. It’s very comforting, smells like skin that was basking in the sun by the shore. I’ve gotten several compliments already and find myself sniffing my wrist more than several times a day. As someone else said, it makes me smile.

The beachy scent genre is one of my favorites and in the vial, this is amazing, and different enough from anything that I already have. It’s almost exactly as I was expecting: A little suncreen, a little warm skin, and truly a little bit like your favorite towel. Unfortunately it just does not work on my skin chemistry, turning too musky with a touch of playdoh. Still totally recommend trying; I think it even has unisex potential.

I was so excited for this, and the first sniff does not disappoint: a delightful swirl of beach memories. As it dries, the notes become more distinct — the first to emerge is rich, musky coconut, followed by the balmy, nostalgic fragrance of boutique suntan lotion. A twist of sweet, sunny tangerine and a gentle sea breeze add an airy lightness, leaving behind a sheer layer of salt that highlights the complexity of the rich notes.
Tropical florals emerge slowly, soft orange blossom blending with the rich cream of jasmine and tuberose. The florals aren’t the focus here, but they provide a wonderful atmosphere, evoking images of white sand beaches surrounded by vibrant island botanicals.
I can’t stop sniffing my wrist, this is so addictive, like someone bottled the perfect day at the beach — a flawlessly blended summer scent with a relaxing, optimistic vibe.

Insane what this one does to your sense memory; it took me right back to the gulf coast in summertime. It smells just like a seaside store where you might enter through a shark’s gaping maw and purchase a boogie board. I find the scent true to description, if heavier on the coconut. As a coconut lover this is no issue for me! Love it.

If you love very cheerful tropical coconut scents, this is a must have!

I first sampled this comforting, intoxicating, nostalgic, Beach Blanket scent about a year ago and loved it and used the whole 1ml vial immediately. I forgot to go back and buy it, but it was SO memorable that now, a year later, I immediately thought of it when I was looking for summer scents. Immediately went to the site and bought the VDP roller. It shocks me that more people don’t know about this, so I will spread the word if I can. It’s better than several summer scents I also own..better than Jo Malone Beach Blossom, better than Kilian Sunkissed Goddess, better than Vacation, better than Replica Beach Walk…the list goes on. This is blended and done so well that it really does encompass summer at the beach. Saltiness, light sweetness, sun, sea air, beach blanket/towel, and the nostalgic scent of coconut sun tan lotion/oil. Love it!
