Happy Valentine’s Day! <3
I’m always ready to celebrate love… not so much with a commercial Holiday, but for a moment to stop and think of the people, places, things we love. I want this to be an every day practice: to reflect on and express love for our world.
Tenderness inspired by the Celtic celebration of Imbolc (meaning lamb’s milk and interestingly associated with the jasmine flower), which I have have had in my notebook for MANY years without realizing how I could best express it. Somehow, now in 2023, the feeling came together in a moment of clarity… the kind of courageous tenderness that is felt at the very opening of a new flower bud, the little sapling emerging from its seed while still in the dark ground, and the flow of milk to feed the newborn lambs…this is the feeling of Tenderness.
Just when the darkness feels overwhelming, that’s when we find the courage to be vulnerable and push toward the light. This fragrance conveys that feeling of tenderness; a new awakening of spirit combined with a sense of comfort, nourishment, and care taking / being held with love. <3
In keeping with the concept of “Imbolc”, Tenderness incorporates a milk accord with soft vanilla, new buds of hawthorn, orris, and rose, a powdery dusting of heliotrope, jasmine and a jasmine powder accord. The result has been described as the scent of a baby’s breath … all milky and soft, and feeling like a soft blanket that holds you close with comfort. I love these descriptions and it’s just what I wanted it to feel like.
