Description

There’s nothing like the scents of the southwestern desert… the interplay of dry and moist; dusty reds and browns with succulent greens.  The “Out West MiniSeries” is a fun filled olfactory collection inspired by the desert landscape of the southwestern United States (and a little bit of Wile E. Coyote cartoons).

You know if we’re creating a landscape with warm, weathered rocks, mesa, and desert flora… we’re going to need some fauna, right?  What is more befitting to bring this landscape to life than a ‘rattler’ or two?   So, to that end, we’ve created Rattlesnake Musk: an animalic musk accord with a clear snakeskin note and a slightly venomous bite.   (It’s a little death defying in the opening… but once you get bit, you just might be hooked).

  1. barbara.mcclay –

There’s a lot of snake themed perfume out there, perfume in snake-y bottles etc, but not a lot that are supposed to smell like snakes. So when I found this I of course had to try it….

In the very first seconds, to me, this smells like… celery. It then becomes something that does smell like a hot dry day, but a hot dry day in which you are also eating celery. I ended up looking up “do snakes smell like celery” and discovered that rattlesnakes supposedly smell like cucumbers (though this fact is in dispute).

As the perfume dries down the celery smell begins to smell more like vinyl, or a new binder. Weird scent, but I liked it. It did make me feel a little dangerous.
