Inspired by two icons of style of the 1950’s: Marlon Brando (as gang leader Johnny) and James Dean. Based on our original and eternally popular “Black Leather” design now expanded to encompass a full spectrum of leather nuances from the classic black leather motorcycle jacket to a deep, dry, modern suede undertone. Woody essences round out the composition.
Zeitgeist 55: It’s a definitive leather scent.

Dawn did literally made a time travel and brought back the ultimate perfume of a vintage leather jacket scent. It is unbelievable. As I apply the perfume it was in the first 10 minuets was a bouquet of styrax, suede,oak moss, balsam and I think i could smell saffron in it . I had a feeling the perfume project coldness, yeah like a leather jacket, they are always cold wenn you first put them on. Then, after a while like the leather jacket begin getting warm from your body heat ,she smell different because your personal skin scent react with the leather the same happens with the perfume. A beautiful rose, patchouli,geranium, leather scent , ambergris coming up to the live and light. It’s really, really giving you the ultimate experience to smell a vintage leather jacket on your skin . The essences are extremely amazing well portioned . She use a black leather accord but in my imagination if the color carmine would have a scent it would be this one . I can’t resist this beautiful perfume.

DSH Perfumes Zeitgeist 55 is billed as a realistic leather scent and it most certainly lives up to that, and then some! I’m not the biggest fan of leather scents but enjoy some that are smooth or are effectively blended, and Zeitgeist 55 is both, very much smelling of authentic leatherware (a jacket, purse, or baseball glove, perhaps) but with slight spicy touches. It’s appropriately dark and somewhat dense but not overwhelmingly so, again, so that it’s more realistic.
This is perhaps the most realistic leather scent I’ve ever tried, reminiscent and roughly on par with the discontinued Coach Leatherware No. 3 in terms of the smooth-but-slightly-spicy texture, very much on par with what actual leather goods smell like.
I’m sampling the EDP but the main larger quantities are available in VDP, 60/30ml for $185/100ml, more or less in line with most of the line’s pricing. I’ll certainly want to seek out a decant or bottle of some size, myself, given the authenticity, care, and performance of this perfume.

I personally prefer my leathers on the suede side, but if you are looking for a bold, realistic leather chypre, this is it! I think there is a oud note here providing the horsepower.

Longtime fragrance fancier, first time reviewer (40/F, if it matters)-
I’ve sampled some of the “classic/popular” leather frags (as well as some “niche/boutique”), but the ONLY that never smell of plastic or ripe bananas on my skin have been created by DSH.
I was slightly apprehensive with oak moss, rose, and other notes; imaging my father’s moldy motocross leathers in the basement…or an old purse of my mother’s crusted in chocolate Velamints and stale cigarettes. From start to finish all I get (thankfully) is an extremely realistic leather scent.
It is a very bright and fresh “black leather” to start, but the additional notes come in and mellow it out for a warmer “worn-in” feel (not a “dusty suede”). Dawn is truly an artist with her creations, in my opinion. I can’t even complain about not noticing the patchouli (another fave of mine), lol! 😉

Dark, clean, sharp leather! I get a small amount of floral elements too; like a oudy floral attar (there is no oud in the notes but that’s what it reminds me of). I think this could come off a bit harsh for people who aren’t into leather, but I quite enjoy the novelty of it :].
