This is a truly bewitching perfume that lingers. The peppery spice of carnations and peppercorns and the softer underlying harmony of honey and ambergris make it a real Mediterranean fragrance that evokes those enchanting interior courtyards with their flagstones and terracotta pots full of flowers, where people talk, play, work and love.

Hands down, this is the best carnation fragrance I have ever found (and as a carnation lover, I have sampled many!). Unlike many carnation fragrances that end in clove overload, Oeillet Rouge is simultaneously a rich, redolent, dry, spicy red, and a velvety, dewy forest green. It has great depth and balance, and lasts for hours on my skin. Simply stunning. I have repurchased this twice after my initial bottle, and can’t imagine ever going without this fragrance.

A unique take on a carnation soliflore, this flower has been dipped in honey! There is a warm, almost sun-drenched feel to the fragrance which allows the spices really bloom on the skin. Still, the carnation isn’t lost underneath this spicy-sweet coat; there is a discernible green accord that reminds the wearer of beautiful blooms in their peak. Very luxurious.

I agree, excellent and not just for women. Not sweet, fruity or pink/white flowery to me. Opens with scarlet force, powered with peppery cinnamon, and you think it’s going to be a silage monster; but just enjoy that bright red burst and don’t worry. Not cloying at all, rich and sexy, spicy without inducing a migraine, and gorgeous dry down without resorting to syrupy vanilla. Bottle worthy.

If you love carnations, then you must buy this wonderful fragrance! I used to wear Blue Carnation back in the 1970’s but when it disappeared, I couldn’t find anything like it. When I found DSH perfumes and ordered their Oeillets Rouges, I found it to be just heavenly! It smells spicy and fresh, like real red carnations! I plan on stocking up on this and loving wearing it every day! Thank you DSH Perfumes, for having my favorite scent!

I have never worn a carnation fragrance before—I never knew there was such a thing! This is somewhat spicy to me but has a nicer drydown. I’m thinking that the solid which is softer would be just the thing for me.

I have been searching for years for a true carnation fragrance. A friend of mine gave me a bottle years ago and I could never replace it and I love the spiciness. I have not received my order yet, but am hoping this is what I have been looking for and if so, I will purchase the solid perfume as well! The other reviews give me hope!

This is a truly gorgeous carnation, so fresh-cut and intoxicating that I can feel the softness of the flower on my nose if I close my eyes. It has a lovely soft and complex dry-down, but everything hovers lovingly around the piquant spiciness of the carnation. This is a classic.

Caron’s Bellodgia (1927) has for nearly a century been considered THE carnation scent. However, it always knocked me over with its intensity.
Dawn has here spared nothing in the similar intensity arena, but added warming notes of amber, vanilla and honey to soften its edges and warm it, so that Oeillets Rouges is eminently wearable.
Spicy, warm, crisp and soft – al at the same time. Truly a find for all carnation lovers.

I ordered a sample of this as I was skeptical of finding a fragrance with an authentic carnation scent. I opened the package today, put some on, and am back to order a full size bottle. I keep sampling different DSH perfumes, and I was not sure if this would work on me.
Now I’m getting ready to order a bottle! It really does smell as it’s described, like a Carnation dipped in honey. I love the spiciness of the carnation that comes through, but the sweetness comes through as well and the combination is wonderful. Another bottle to be ordered!

This is the perfume that made me able to finally identify and understand carnation. Some days this knocks me out as the most amazingly rich bottomless floral, but other days it strikes too much of a clove note for me. Despite my ambivalence about making a full bottle purchase (when I’m in the mood for clove notes I reach for Cuir et Champignon which never ceases to fascinate me) I went through my teeny sample bottle quickly and still find myself daydreaming about it.

This is the perfect daytime perfume for cold weather: hot and spicy and lively enough to shake me out of the cold doldrums, but also fresh–it boosts my mood and my energy. It reminds me of Dawn’s Euphorisme d’Opium, which I adore, but scales down the femme fatale quality a little bit and thus is perhaps a bit more wearable in daytime. I’m glad I have it for this cold, cold winter!

My favourite carnation scent of all time, it is more carnation dominant to my nose than Caron’s Bellodgia, it’s also cleaner and more modern, very rich and enveloping, day through to evening and superb in Spring and Autumn/Winter.

So beautiful. I love carnations–I am forever burying my nose in bouquets in the grocery store if they have carnations. This is exactly what I was hoping for–carnation mingling with other notes that envelop me in happiness. I don’t have the ability to detect and describe other components of this scent; I’ll leave that to other, more educated reviewers. This scent is spicy-sweet carnation wonderfulness, that lasted several hours (made it through a workout at the YMCA!) and spoke to my soul.

This is a gorgeous carnation perfume. The nutmeg and beeswax add to the coziness. Feels modern with a nod to the past. The drydown for me smells like I have a bouquet of red carnations in my hand. I love this so much I’m going to buy the DSH Carnation sampler pack so I can experience them all and see which is my favorite to buy.

There’s a wet spicy freshness to the subtle carnation-clove-ish scent wafting through. A little cinnamon / powder (iris?), greenish bergamot/citric punch. Dawn keeps this carnation flower profile fresh and light, keeping the clover/amber component in-check. Spring/Fall apropos. But wearing this in winter could work, too, to uplift the dark days, even matching the somewhat darker/woodier/spicier elements this has that the winter references as well. Projects 2 feet for the first 3 hours, and then 1 foot the next 3 hours at half-strength. The skin scent of the last couple hours is still fresh, spicy, but light. A different kind of just-out-of-the-shower scent. Carnation fans: 5-star Craftsmanship, top-of-game, and uniquely done. Gorgeous “curve” of carnation’s freshest facets progressively morphing into a showered-skin spicy-“clean” that lasts. Stellar.

Through my husband’s vast former networking of very high-end scents, I have been exposed to some of the world’s very best fragrances. I have curated a wonderful small set of my favorites. I have a dram of this from a box set I received a couple holiday seasons ago. It is just as many other reviewers have said. Rich, peppery, spicy when you first put it on. As the scent depends a fresh green accord accents the lush richness of the first wave is scent. Very nice. I would love this in a body cream. I hope she’s still doing them. I really love layering my scents and the quality of the body creams and lotion I have purchased here is wonderful for the skin.

So elegant, yet wearable every day. The clove is what brought me to carnation perfumes and the clove in this is spicy but not too sharp. After a few hours it morphs into a light and honeyed floral. Beautiful.
