Poivre may be our spiciest, most bold oriental design to date. It is a very traditional take on the form…kind of like Opium with a pepper dominance.

Like the classic Caron Bellodgia and DSH’s own Oeillets Rouges before it, this is a warm and spicy carnation scent, given a brightness with the opening pepper and heart pimento notes and a warmth from the underlying Olibanum and Labdanum notes.

For those with a bright, fiery personality and a youthful disposition.

    Highly recommended.

Utterly beautiful! I’m starting to think that all Dawn’s carnations are must-haves. I had a sample of this some time ago but mislaid it, so I recently requested another sample with an order. I had remembered it as kind of spikily, scorchingly hot, but now instead I get an almost honeyed floral quality from it. Still deliciously smoldering, but more feminine and less peppery than, say, the equally marvelous Oeillets Rouges. This is elegant, womanly, utterly irresistible.

I received a sample of this as part of a bunch of samples from DSH as a Christmas gift two weeks ago. I wanted to clarify that I do own it, even tho the purchase came under a different account (family member).

I am a middle aged male, long-time lover of scents, but began taking the fragrance world seriously again a few years ago, after abandoning it about 15 years ago due to lack of quality frags to choose from.

I consider myself an amateur nose, my main measuring stick being whether a frag makes me sick/headachy or not, since 95% of department store frags do. I seek out naturals or near-naturals as often as I can, hence DSH.

And, even as a fairly masculine man, I will try to rock a floral from time to time, which I hear is common for men outside the western world (I’m in New York).

I get a definite floral here. A previous post using the word “elegant” fits extremely well. I do get the hint of rose, and my nose gets a faint powder feel, in the best of ways.

Like other of DSH creations, there is that vintage vibe there, and DSH manages to make vintage extremely accessible; I’m certain most people would interpret it as “cozy” as compared to “old”…it is nostalgic and simply too appealing.

And it def does have pop; my nose isn’t savvy enough to identify it, but I would define the attention-grabbing as the “spice” component of the creation.

It is absolutely lovely, and is going on my wish list as one I will buy in the future for occasional use. It is definitely going to be more for women, I think most people will agree, but there are men like me who will every now and then go floral…just because it smells awesome.

Cheers, a must-try in my opinion for anyone who loves a great, fully natural smelling, no-headache floral with some zip.
