Je Suis La Lune is our Nocturne no.2; an ode to the Moon, and its glorious, celestial beauty. The Moon has inspired artists, musicians, poets, and philosophers for centuries…and for me, its luminous glow, like a silvery pearl in the night sky has been ever fascinating.
The Celtic festival, Imbolc, celebrating the first renewal of the earth in Spring has for its symbols, sheeps milk, and jasmine. These influences found their way into the design of Je Suis La Lune, with its milky loveliness.

I stink (HA!) at naming scents; my vernacular for what I experience in the olfactory kingdom does not generally match the norm. So here goes: I am not generally drawn to floral scents, but, trusting Dawn as I have for many years, gave this a try. It IS floral, but deeper; imagine a still pool of jasmine that has been diluted by the scents of the world around it, on the shores, in the air. The nearby apothecary’s shop door was left open, the trees on the bank are wet and there is something SOMETHING you just can’t quite name that refuses to be stilled. Going with the theme of the name, the moon is out, waning crescent, and everything is still but you know it’s about to change. My take. Love it!

This is not your hit-you-over-the-head animalic or dirty jasmine perfume, instead it’s a lighter, airier jasmine that is softer and closer to the skin. It’s a lovely white flowers scent with good silage. Great day time perfume.

Rich, sensuous, sweet (but not cloying). Tropical, but rather than coconut/pineapple, think of a river flowing in the tropics with thick, green leafy plants with white flowers carpeting the river’s banks. My only criticism is that I wish it would last longer on me.

I received a sample of this with my order and at first smell, I thought this scent would not be for me… after a few dabs on my skin, I couldn’t stop sniffing my wrist. This is a gorgeous white floral, jasmine at its airiest, but it’s also milky and creamy and tad earthy, as if you crushed jasmine flowers and leaves in your palms and wrapped yourself in a cashmere blanket under the stars. Gorgeous! This would not be my day-to-day perfume, instead I think I’ll keep my little vial for a sultry night.

I have been a fragrance collector and enthusiast for years, so I have tried thousands of fragrances. I like jasmine, but there are only a few jasmine fragrances that I truly love. Immediately after applying Je Suis La Lune, I knew this one would be my next jasmine love. It is very beautiful. Jasmine is by far the most prominent note, but it’s cold, fresh, and not at all animalic. I can see it having a “pearl” like quality and it does possess a milkiness. I don’t get too much spice, but I’m completely fine with that as it’s such a stunning jasmine fragrance. I would say it’s feminine-leaning, ethereal, and evocative of jasmine underneath the moonlight. The sillage is soft to moderate and it’s long-lasting. Overall, I highly recommend this to jasmine lovers.

To my (amateur) nose, this is a realistic jasmine sambac soliflore with a hint of powder. Specifically, this is the smell of jasmine when it’s a hot summer night, and you can’t see the flowers, but you can smell them in the evening breeze. It also has a velvet-y texture to it – it’s like I’m touching the petals of the flower. Admittedly not exactly my taste (which is why this is not 5 stars), but as always Dawn excels in executing her vision.

This is a deep, indolic jasmine, lush and buttery with a touch of warm spice. The jasmine is soon joined by creamy magnolia, its sweet, citrusy top notes creating a gentle brightness with the aid of the waxy, tropical blossoms of golden champaca. Pale, gauzy musk and soft vanilla blend with the rich florals, forming a swirling, luminous bouquet of night blooming flowers.
I love this, sensual and mysterious but still quite wearable for daytime.

I originally was not 100% on board with jasmine scents, and this smelled really scary in the bottle to me. But then…on the skin, it becomes creamier, still indolic but more bearably so. It feels like the jasmine is almost green or plasticky at times but…I kinda like that? There’s a touch of something warm and lightly spiced that comes to greet my skin, and it really does feel like a delicate scent with a suggestion of heat and humidity, quite aptly named and described. Becomes less stinky with wear, creamy and pleasant, maybe even a smidgen sweeter. Lasts about 4 hours, but very close to the skin. Perhaps my jasmine fear has been overcome, I find this very wearable!

On a piece of paper I get more jasmine, a hint of citrus and greenery, and a milky silk-softness backing it up. But on my skin, this exploded into being a total magnolia bomb! It’s the perfect balance of lemony brightness, nectary white floral sweetness, green aspects, and this distinct fuzzy pollen texture. I do pick up on a pearly quality that reminds me a little bit of white tea. After the lemony opening the tropical nuances come on strong, I can almost smell something fruity like guava. As it wears there’s a thicker creaminess that comes through and makes everything so plush. I love this perfume, though it’s totally not what I expected, it’s sunny and sparkling yet sophisticated.
