Happy 14th Anniversary, CaFleureBon!
It is with an excited and anticipatory mood that I throw open the windows and breathe in some freshness in honor of CaFleureBon’s big day and announce the birth of our latest Queen. This is my fourth invitation to collaborate with Editor-In-Chief, Michelyn Camen to create a uniquely envisioned Queen; and Green Queen is unlike any of my previous “Queen Collaborations” with Michelyn.
Michelyn and I conspired to produce a modern Cologne with references to historic cologne styles from the late 1970’s through more modern interpretations; all the while maintaining an all botanical ingredient list. In conversation, Michelyn said to me, “Give me a fragrance that is a long lasting cologne, because I generally don’t like cologne”. Thus, we bring you Green Queen Cologne.
I have to admit that I loved the challenge of creating Green Queen! The sense of construction and planning out the ideal materials that will achieve my end is always one of my favorite aspects of design. And creating an all botanical ‘classic form’ fragrance requires a fair amount of intention. As colognes have always been made with the lightest of materials (and botanical materials can be more delicate), getting the structure in full balance, and ‘weaving’ of the materials is really key. Green Queen has that radiant, solar power of the cologne genre but with a fuller body, it has a wonderful burst of energy and a lovely, soft sustain.
For me, Green Queen is everything that I had hoped it would be: a fresh, inspiring all botanical fragrance filled with brightness. Just as Spring opens to revitalize the world anew, Green Queen embodies that very same energy beautifully.
