Description

While developing a collection of ʻscent studiesʼ on one aromatic note, DSH chose spikenard, an ancient root used extensively in early Egyptian perfumes, as a focus. Spikenard, a botanical relative to valerian, is used to soothe, relax and bring one into a meditative realm. When mixed with incense resins and spices it is truly intoxicating. An equally suitable fragrance for a man or a woman, Arome dʼEgypte brings you back to the seductive world of the Ancients. Arome dʼEgypte Perfume has adapted early Egyptian fragrance styles and aromatic notes into a modern fragrance in the French perfume tradition.

Love Love Love!! This is one of the most unusual and incredible fragrances ever. This is NOT for the shy! This is a bold, empowering scent…yet it does produce a calming effect in me. It brings me back to a time and place that is deep within my spirit. That may sound curious to some but the notes that comprise the beautiful whole of this fragrance are familiar to me. Well, before I go off on a metaphysical tangent! I’ll simply share how very much I adore this fragrance and thank you, Dawn, for this expression of the aroma of ancient Egypt.

Strong, powerful, seductive, ancient. When I first put the scent on, I wasnt sure, but after a bit it sweetend up on my skin. Incredibly it smells like my Uncle’s house. He was an Egyptologist and as a child I always just thought that was his cologne, but now I wonder if it was really all the ancient Egyptian artifacts he kept on display. I am a female, but I think the scent is androgynous. Love it.

Amber, frankincense, and labdanum are some of my favorite scents, and I was instantly captivated by this fragrance. It is a sweet amber on my skin, but more than just sweet, it has an underlying complexity from the spices and ancient oils. Really exquisite fragrance.

To my nose this is an intense amber wood scent. Spikenard is not a scent I know, although Wikipedia tells me it is an oil derived from a flowering plant that was used extensively in the Ancient World – as incense, perfume, medicine, etc.

The impression I get from Arome is that of amber and cedar with a lavender underlay. An excellent and powerful addition to the genre of amber woods.

I’ve been a huge fan of Dawn’s exceptional fragrances for decades. Nobody does it better. My go-to has been Arome d’Egypte from the perfume side and others from the essential oils side that smell like I just walked out of a shower. Dawn is a genius in this realm

I have smelled this in my mind since I was a child in a very small Baptist Church that only children went to. I knew about Israel before I knew what or where Israel was. It has always been vivid to me and it smelled like this. Eternal, always there. Not ancient or musty. But someplace I had been in another time or dimension. I dont smell Pharoahs or tombs, but the idea of Jesus being anointed. It makes me feel like im where I should be. It smells like frankincense, but not just dry old frankincense. Something spicier and alive. It’s exactly perfect, pure, and sacred. Don’t ask me what I smell other than frankincense, since I am useless in isolating many notes. It’s just the way I have always wanted to smell.
Similar to Sonoma Scent Studio’s Amber Incense, but with a less top heavy frankincense. What a gift to be able to create something like this.
