I have had this dream of making a mushroom perfume for many years now… Cuir et Champignon embodies all the soft and inviting qualities of white button mushrooms, then leads you to a more hidden place where the darker mushrooms grow and on to rich rawhide and dusty leather. I hope that you will love wearing Cuir et Champignon as I do; for me it’s a new classic.

I bought a sample of this when I was looking for a perfume that reminded me of a library, that kind of mythical men’s club or manor house personal library with deep leather couches and a roaring fire and was not disappointed. On my skin the clove and sandalwood seem to linger longest along with the leather so it’s more persian rugs and exotic curios than formal library. It stays on for a long time which one of the things I really value in a perfume, but it stays close to the skin and subtle and won’t overwhelm people near you until they come in close for a hug. It’s not a daytime summery scent but I’m buying a bottle now in July so I can be ready for the fall and winter–or maybe an evening at a cooling beach.

Another lost and found treasure! I’ve been looking for this for years, and finally found it buried in the back of drawer.
Oh, my! It is so much better than I remembered. If you want Earth, here it is – intense humus, root, rock, and of course, the marvelous combination of leather and mushroom. It sounds crazy, and it is. But it is wonderful crazy, intoxicating crazy, seductive crazy. After years and years of “surveying the field” for earthen fragrances, I have found nothing that remotely compares to this masterpiece. And it was in my drawer the whole time. Six stars.

Opens alcohol and sharp leather, then went a bit dormant. Got to work–for the first hour I was trying to figure out who spilled the cinnamon powder. Except it was me. As it dries into balsams and sweet ambers, it gets lovelier and lovelier, but the cinnamon note on me is heavy for the first four hours. So I started pairing it with Rendezvous and oh hubba hubba was I walking in a winter porn bass land throughout the end of December. User millage will vary, as I suspect it’s my skin producing the cinnamon note, or amping it to that degree, but overall I am so glad I went out on a limb to try this.

This smells like a humidor of fine cigars: Clove spice, sweet soft wood, and pleasant earthiness. I can see this not being for everybody, but I love it.

The absolute only reason I didn’t rate this creation a “5” was the clove. I adore clove (food, frags, and the occasional smoke), but it is so strong it can overpower the other beautiful notes. And, WOW! the soft leather and earthy mushrooms deserve to be the stars, IMHO.
If I ever had the chance/$ for a custom creation it would be “Cuir et Champignon (sans clou de girofle)”.

The opening is animalistic and since I am a lover of animal notes, this is the beginning that is the most interesting. Then the animal leather becomes more polite, catches on to the bar with honey and becomes more tame.
Mushrooms and honey make the skin softer and sweeter. I wish the beginning would last forever…
My first journey with DSH and proved to be promising.

This smells like every dusty national park visitors center you’ve ever been in. You’re 11. Your parents made you leave your video game in the car. Dusty taxidermy animals are on display, the carpet has never been replaced, and you are about to beg your mom to buy you an overpriced plush of a bird that may or may not even live in this national park.
