A new twist on a romantic classic; spicy carnation and rose meet in an ambery, wood fragrance.  It’s a perfect Fall floriental!

About This Product

A famous rose was plucked then cultivated from Chateau de Malmaison; residence of famous lovers, Napoleon and Josephine Bonaparte.  A famous fragrance style of the early 19th Century, Malmaison is the spicy floriental style based on carnation, rose, spices, woods, and musk.  Now we find these two influences coming together to create a new carnation soliflore fragrance with added pepper, clove, and a rich base of vanilla, balsams, cedar, sandalwood.  And for a twist on the animalic nuance, there’s ambergris.  The rose in the heart is the perfect compliment to the rich and spiced carnation, yet remains balanced for men or women.

This fragrance is hitting just the right note of floral carnation for me. And yet, it reminds me most of the Hansa rose I grow in my garden, with a scent that is always described as spicy. The rose is just lingering in the background for me, with the peppery notes coming first.

A great carnation scent, and almost identical to the long discontinued Floris Souvenir de Malmaison. It’s like a fresh version of the formula Floris used in the 1960’s – 1980’s, with richer components (better grade of sandalwood?) than what they turned to around 2000. Lovely stuff, and like the other reviewer said, blended with roses.
