Mezcal Vetiver… How delicious does that sound? To me, amazing, as I love the scent of both.
The idea came as a variation on the boozy / men’s fragrance themes I have been toying with for some time in my studio. Most of the concepts I see in the marketplace are focused on whiskey / bourbon and gin… maybe even a lush port. But what if we went rogue and more outdoorsy? What about the dry desert and smoky infused mezcal tequila note? Hmmmm.
Now here we are with this non-traditional boozy fragrance fashioned around a deep and sexy Vetiver. In the ‘French style’, a Vetiver fragrance has some similarity to an Eau de Cologne form: a bright and refreshing citrus top and a deep base note at the very end of the drydown. For an Eau de Cologne it generally goes bergamot / orange / rosewood down to a musk / ambergris construct, but for Vetiver it is more lime / coumarin to vetiver / woods.
Mezcal Vetiver shakes up this tradition by pairing the fresh lime to tequila’s boozy whiff in the opening and in the base the mezcal smoke creates gorgeous rings hooked into Texas cedarwood, leather, guaiacwood, cade, and of course, the vetiver. The result is a mix of elegance and roughness; a sense of adventure with sophistication… Something wild and beautiful.
