Joyous Neroli

(1 customer review)

$6.00$235.00

Joyous Neroli opens with airy notes of bergamot, verbena, and petitgrain as a prelude a purely sunny neroli (orange blossom) and jasmine heart note accord.  All is grounded in a soft base of sandalwood, orange tree heart wood, and subtle oakmoss.

It is fresh and refreshing; a burst of light and optimism.  Pure Joy.

Description

Find joy in the small things: the beauty of morning light… the freshness of a warm Spring breeze… a kind smile from a stranger… These are small, everyday things that make the human heart sing.  Truly, it’s joy that feeds the soul.

Few notes in perfumery bring joy and delight like neroli.  It’s one of nature’s antidepressants, and it fills the wearer with a lighthearted sense of peace and optimism.  For me, there’s a special feeling that neroli brings; an uplift to my spirit and a sense of radiant happiness like pure sunshine.  That’s why I needed to create Joyous Neroli.  In the past I have designed more full bodies ‘Orange Blossom’ fragrances (in the French or Arabic styles), but none spoke to the lighter, brighter, fresher, and more airy aspects of orange blossoms that is neroli.  For me, this is it;  it’s the feeling that I want to share.  Because now, more than ever, we need moments of pure joy… To live in possibility.

The name of this perfume intrigued me, and it wasn’t as joyous as I initially expected–I was expected something a bit brighter, not sweet, but not so green/woody either. But it has been growing on me with each application, particularly the drydown, which i think is smooth and complex. The woods and florals together are lovely.
The initial neroli is a sharp burst, and is paired with something very fresh and green (verbena?). The greenness and the powerful neroli fades into balance, where woods, subtle florals, and musk/oakmoss strengthen.
I’d say that this perfume scent leans masculine, but its something i’d still wear. The florals add depth rather than leaning the scent feminine.
Despite the citrus and bright notes, this doesn’t feel like a particularly cooling scent. Its surprisingly mature and sophisticated to me, maybe something a fancy gent would wear on a hot day, but still needing to attend to business in a suit. Can’t be *too* laid back.
