Be transported through time and space to a moment in Monet’s flower garden at Giverny.
Created for Denver Art Museum’s “In Bloom” exhibit ‘scent experience’, a gorgeous green and live flower bouquet fragrance was created to evoke the artist’s beloved flower garden. Two underlying bouquet designs within the Giverny In Bloom imagines the cool, blue-violet flower beds of violets, irises, and lilacs and also the red and pink areas with peonies, old roses, and carnations. The inspiration for Giverny In Bloom is not only taken from actual information about Monet’s garden but also from the flowers found in the paintings of the exhibit. This ties the scent experience to more than the Monet paintings in the show.

First impression upon applying the EdT is of a specific green color. Not dark forest green, or bright chartreuse- but a watery – yet vivid emerald green, that I connect with a start to Monet’s Weeping Willow, 1918. Long strands of willow leaves & grass move gently in a cool breeze. Bubbling underneath this is a muted floral fragrance that brings up a jumble of beautiful memories. Over time, the stream of floral steps forward & then retreats again behind the dominant green notes. Performance is lingering, worn as an evening scent, still present in the morning. Uni-sex.

This is like Le Jardin Vert with a few differences. The opening is the same lovely green as LJV, then it becomes mildly floral. There are no florals in LJV; there is no mossy dry down in GIB. Instead, as another reviewer mentions, the ending is like the opening, coming full circle. If you love green/herbal fragrances but want just a bit of floral in with it, try this. If you want green only, try Le Jardin Vert. Both are fantastic.

Beautiful, complex floral green chypre capturing the entire flower from petals to stem to root. One of my favorite DSH so far.

A walk in the garden after the rain, dripping green… And at the top the scent of rich earth followed by banks of violets, roses, a whiff of ephemeral spice from the carnations. If you want a classic fragrance reference it reminds me of Guerlain’s Après l”Ondée. Though Giverny in Bloom is fresher, more modern, a gorgeous gotta smell my wrist again scent.

This really feels like standing in a garden after a hard rain in spring, or maybe a flower shop. The scent of cut stems is very intense at the beginning and a little bitter, but it gradually gives itself over to flowers. Like whole beds and banks of flowers, and they really smell wet somehow. That one week in late April when yards and gardens are suddenly drowning in flowers, and since the petals are bubbling out everywhere they seem kind of frothy— you also smell this! Anyway I’m not a huge floral guy so I don’t think I’ll buy a larger size, but I’m making sure there’s a little left in the sample to smell from time to time.
