What is it about the scent of an open fire? The fragrance of woodsmoke has been intensely beloved in my memory as far back as I can go.
It’s nostalgic (like the cozy warm scent of my grandfather’s house in winter), it’s ancient (our ancestors shared its glow in the dark), it’s romantic (like an intimate moment at the fireside). So, how could we create a wood collection and not include this wonderful scent? Impossible.

I love wood smoke, and this one has a uniquely fuzzy, approachably soft character. It almost reminds me of the soft texture of cashmere, with a gentle smoldered warmth. Usually I think it’s uniquely beautiful, but sometimes, maybe based on my mood, I randomly get associations of old faded cigarette smoke instead. After the smoky opening settles out the incense note comes through. The incense is a subdued with all the harsh edges smoothed down, a little frankincense dominant to my nose, feeling lovely and bright. Underlying that is the most golden and gentle fir balsam I’ve ever smelled. Even when I don’t get along with the opening, I love how the dry down is so warm, comforting, and intimate.
