Gingembre (Ginger no.1), 2005: A classic, dark and spicy, ginger forward ambery perfume. Luscious. Intoxicating. Chic. My Ginger étude no.1 is a perfectly rich and decadent gourmand ginger spice perfume. * 96% Botanical / Natural Perfume. Notes of: Ambrette Seed, Black Pepper, Clove Bud, Cocoa Beans, East Indian Patchouli, Ginger, Grandiflorum Jasmine, Honey Beeswax, Labdanum, Mandarin, Moroccan Rose Absolute, Moss, Nutmeg, Osmanthus, Pimento Berry, Rhum accord, Sandalwood, Siam Benzoin, Star Anise, and Tolu Balsam.
**Michelangelo, 2001: An elegant yet full-bodied woody/resinous/conifer design. The single malt top note gives way to the singular aroma of the artists atelier, underpinned by note of mens club leather and subtle cigar nuances. Artistic. Provocative. Suave. This vintage inspired fragrance for men expresses the scent of the artist; some notes from the studio, leather bound books, hints of smoke and a whisper of aged single malt scotch from ‘the club”. Notes of: Ambergris, Atlas Cedarwood, Bergamot, Brazilian Vetiver, Brown Oakmoss, Clary Sage, Frankincense (Olibanum), Himalayan Cedar, Labdanum, Laurel Leaf, Leather, Lemon, Moroccan Rose Absolute, Myrrh Gum, Origanum, Palma Rosa, Peru Balsam, Pine Needle, Spice Notes, and Tobacco Absolute. Oude Arabique, 2002: A warm and softly wooded Oude perfume. More buttery and smooth than the black “animalic” agar scents. Rare. Mystical. Sacred. Oude is one the rarest (and is the costliest!) aromatics in the perfumer’s palette with a mystique all it’s own. It is a sacred and revered as the ‘Aroma of God’ in some cultures. There are many species and many, varying aromatic signatures to Oude / Oudh / Agarwood from a number of countries. The scent can vary from a soft, dry, woody – incense-like note to a rich, feral (almost fecal) aroma. Our Oude Arabaique fragrance is an example of the softer, more woody-incense side of Oude, with a deep, subtly buttery sandalwood as a compliment. Notes of: Australian Sandalwood, Buddahwood, Himalayan Cedar, Mastic, Oude / Agarwood, Tamil Nadu Sandalwood, and Tolu Balsam.

This is one of the most successful gourmand orientals I’ve ever experienced. There are various woods listed, including Oude, Sandalwood and Buddahwood, but the scent itself is that of a sumptuous fruit cake, bursting with figs and currants and absolutely soaked in rich dark rum. One has difficulty not eating one’s arm. This is definitely a must try if you are into either gourmands or orientals.

This is exquisite. Oud is a tricky note however in this composition so smooth, so delicious. Arabique definitely has a sweetness yet is not cloying at all. Boozy, tobacco-like, figgy, up front; a soft oud, round sandalwood and slightly powdery spice behind the scenes. Rich yet non-offensive, sweet yet balanced. I agree with the previous reviewer in that it is difficult not to eat one’s arm.

This is a very masculine scent, resinous and woody, deep and dark. The cedar wood and tobacco absolute are most prominent, the latter giving the effect of a very strong Cuban cigar, rather than the vanilla and cherry notes of pipe tobacco.
Oakmoss and vetiver are here as well.
The opening is quite strong, almost overpowering, but it does all calm down in a few minutes to a warmth that although never forgetting its initial strength, does become more manageable. Hercules tamed in effect.
This is uncompromisingly masculine and would cause a sensation, I believe, if given more exposure in the niche men’s fragrance world.

This is a truly realistic, multidimensional ginger fragrance. I get hit instantly with a visual of the ginger peel, flesh, root, everything, as if I’m holding a ginger root in my hand and have peeled a few flakes off, standing up in the kitchen. Fresh, earthy, with a tang.
