Description
A new unisex, animalic fragrance with many inspirations.
First, is to portray and speak to another “classical” animal note, this time ambergris / amber, which I felt evoked the color of the red fox perfectly, and to create a slightly more rough and feral fur accord than I had in the past few animalic releases. The second source came from watching Wes Anderson’s portrayal of Roald Dahl’s “Fantastic Mr. Fox”. I used some of the fabulous details found in the movie in the design of Foxy and I think that they work well in telling the story of the smart, sexy, creative, wild animals that foxes are. And stylish… always, intelligent and stylish. The very top note is of the ‘golden star apple” / apple whiskey that Farmer Bean basically lives off of; with the next in the line up as Mrs. Bean’s “famous apple ginger snap”, which gives a wonderfully mischievous introduction to what becomes a much more sophisticated fragrance as it develops.

We all know the connection between the fox and the foxy behavior. The same is with this creation. This fragrance is very crafty. In the first moment it’s sweet , amber notes and the composition of the essences used by Dawn made you thinking you would smell even incense, but there is no incense. After fifteen minutes the perfume changes you became the feeling of a modern Chypre with undernotes of lime, Jasmin and sweet apples. The fresh and light sparkling note accompanies you the whole time. Also from the first moment you smell a delightful bitterness and resins. After a while the bitterness is still present but a dry- woody note comes out. Then it changes again into a amber- resin note with under notes of Jasmin, oakmoss, castoreum and cognac. This is an awesome creation. I use this picture because it reminds me on the beautiful smell of resin and amber.

It is my FAVOURITE! OMG best boozy thing. It makes my knees shake. Such a great whiskey with delicious apple cider. Perfect sexy fragrance, unisex and date-approved! It is the sexiest and at the same time easiest fragrance from DSH Perfumes I’ve tried so far…

This is such a unique fragrance to my nose! I’m hit with the sweetness, boozy, resins, and the animalic elements!!! If you can appreciate animalic scents, then this is a must try. It’s definitely a special scent, an exotic, sensual, and sexy one to say the least! Thank you Dawn.

Beautifully executed, it lingers on the skin all day long. Very animalic and boozy but weirdly enough, some days my husband loves it on my skin, some other days he is not so keen on. I guess that the beginning is quite overwhelming, we have to wait for the dry-down.

I wear this one when I am watching old movies, especially film noir. I don’t drink anymore, but the warmth of this reminds me of warming up with a shot of bourbon. It goes down so warm. This one really is warm and sexy.

This is unlike anything I own. To me It’s reminiscent of the smell of an old church pew in the most beautiful way possible. It’s deep and dark and dry and not very sweet at all. But it manages to be somehow sexy and addictive. Cole weather suits this best and it has incredible longevity.

I think all DSH perfumes deserve 5 stars as they are all brilliantly crafted. We are all unique individuals and attracted to different scents. That being said, this perfume did not work with my body chemistry. It could be I have yet to develop an appreciation for anamalic perfumes. I do like my perfumes a little grungy, but this turned fecal on me.

I am really interested in vintage fragrances; it’s sad to see them go extinct, though I do understand the need to reformulate for many reasons. And I understand that scent trends and styles change over time. I love reading the history of perfumes.
Having sampled some true vintages from great houses like Guerlain and Coty (yes! Coty was a great house! Just try vintage Chypre!) and wow. These are things of great, sometimes complicated and difficult beauty.
Foxy is totally in that line of fragrances and I admire Ms. Hurwitz’s artistry in being able to create something so fabulous. But fabulous is sometimes not easy: you have to be pretty open-minded to appreciate the skank! Foxy is not for beginners, and I’d be careful about wearing it at work.
A sample was enough for me, but what a joy it was to wear it a few times. This is something that I imagine Rosalind Russell would have worn–such a great, beautiful, charismatic woman. And totally Foxy!

The opening really is boozy! And it’s some seriously expensive whiskey, not a generic boozy scent at all. As it dries, warm, cozy spices emerge, along with fragrant oak and cedar with a hint of black pepper. A deep, golden sweetness softens the scent — smooth, honeyed amber and the soft fragrance of fall apples. Velvety musk peeks through, animalic but in a way that is quite approachable when blended with the other notes. Also, the whiskey put you off, it I just quite seamlessly with the rest of the notes.
This feels so confidently sexy and me think of slinky, silk dresses and jazz clubs — it perfectly captures the vibe you want in a scent called Foxy.

Bright, astringent, slightly sweet and dusty. Elements of peach and apple (I get the peach more) and slightly spicy and boozy. Sits close as a voile.

Deliciously boozy, a bit sweet, and perfectly balanced out by the animalic notes. I have yet to find a company that does animalics better than Dawn.

Interesting! Definitely animalic, but wearably so– I don’t find that it contains any fecal undertones. I have trouble describing this one because it comes out very well-blended– Like the description says it is boozy, ambery, slightly spiced and fruity. Less “apple cider” and more “warm rum and whiskey.” Hex code #AB4E11.

I would give more than five stars if I could. This is the perfume that converted my husband to an animalic lover after years of me trying. It smells like wearing a fur coat while drinking expensive booze.
