Description
I’m SO VERY EXCITED to share ‘Le Jade’ with you! This is a retro-nouveau design that I have been working on for the last few years in my studio. It’s got multiple inspirations including my work in Japan and the beauty of the lush forests of Asia; as well as a couple of vintage perfumes (Le Jade by Roger et Gallet, and Inoui de Shiseido).
The story of Le Jade played out like this in my mind: when you first arrive at the forest grove you are dazzled by the opulent shades of jade-like green. The verdant explosion is nearly overwhelming. You walk in further and everywhere you look is ever more beautiful… but as you continue to explore your surroundings, you sense the ombre of memories and days gone by. Perhaps behind any of these majestic trees is a ghost; of young lovers, poets and dreamers, and perhaps a fallen samurai. As you linger in this beautiful enchantment, your reverie is haunted with shadows of centuries of experience which have transpired here and become embedded in the woods. All this beauty, and life itself.

“This is the forest primeval, the murmuring pines and hemlocks…”. Like the forest in Evangeline, this scent is green, ageless and full of magic and memories. One whiff and I was with Rosalind in the woods in As You Like It. It is so much more than the scent of pine and moss and forest greenery: Le Jade encompasses the feelings of peace and melancholy that being alone in a great forest can inspire. I have no idea how Dawn does it , but once again she has created a perfume of beauty and transformation. I love it , and while all fragrance is subjective, it’s hard for me to imagine anyone not caring for this perfume.

This starts of with a smoky hit that is arresting but also appealing. It is also not too “overdone smoky”–just like a scent of slightly smoked wood. As it progresses, the green notes come out more. I can’t smell specific florals, but I definitely can tell they’re in there and that they contribute to the overall feel of the scent. It is meditative, green, woody, and well-balanced and well blended.
