DSHPerfumes –
(For Parma Violet):
I love this! I have been looking for a scent that reminds me of the violet candies my mom used to carry in her purse. This scent is light and sweet but not too powdery sweet to make you smell like a candy shop like many of the body sprays I smell on others. This is more sophisticated but also coy and flirty. I can’t help sniffing my wrists all day. Unfortunately the staying power is only for a few hours. Sigh.

This one is a winner! The dry down is one of the best—sweet, powdery and a bit green.

Autumn Cokel –
Tuberosa- I’ve really been enjoying the soliflores in oil format! This one, like most of the soliflores in oil format, is extremely strong. I only need a small dot applied from a wand cap. On first application there is a rootbeer like note that quickly transforms into velvety, almost fuzzy golden petals. Rich and tropical.

• Tuberosa •
This smells a lot like my beloved Tubereuese in the bottle, but on my skin, its noticeably different. Tuberosa feels more fresh and bright though it still has thre lush, golden nectar and smooth, creamy petals that I love.
There’s a peppery green note among the sweet, creamy florals, I was worried it would be a bit too strong, but it’s slowly enveloped by the rich fragrance of the blossoms, just enough greenery peeking through to give the scent realism and complexity. This is beautiful alone but would be perfect for layering — the oil is quite strong, just a little dot has great throw and longevity, and the rich, tropical florals are absolutely addictive.

• Magnolia no. 2, Southern Magnolia •
Opens with hints of wood and a subt spice that reminds me of a soft, airy anise, though the warmth is soon balanced with zesty green notes. A splash of bright, sunny lemon brings the scent fully into summer, as the sweet cream of white florals pours over the aromatic top notes, blending them seamlessly into the smooth, musky blossoms.
This is a very soft white floral with top notes of sweet lemon, peppery, botanical spices; and bright greenery. A friend compared the top notes to Amalfi lemons, which I thought was extremely accurate.
I had only smelled Magnolia in white floral blends before trying this and found this soliflore more citrusy than I expected, but I recently had the chance to smell a Magnolia tree in bloom, and this does a great job of capturing its realism. While it’s too much citrus for my taste, if you’re looking for a complex and realistic Southern Magnolia, this scent will not disappoint. Great throw and longevity with only a tiny drop of oil.

• Muguet des Bois / Lily of the Valley •
Opens with the cool, silky white florals of Lily of the Valley. The flower’s fresh, delicate sweetness is balanced by rich cream, as waxy petals release a full-bodied fragrance that diffuses into a cloud of light, airy white florals that surrounds the wearer.
This is the best lily I’ve tried, extremely realistic and well-balanced. The cool, natural floral notes makes me think of a perfect lily in a florist’s freezer.
I love layering a drop with vanillad and lactonics, bringing out both the lily’s dainty top notes and rich base.

• Tunisian Jasmine •
The opening is heady and fragrant, a classic but realistic jasmine. There’s a touch of fruity sweetness when wet, transforming to rich nectar as it dries, accompanied by the waxy petals of new blooms. Beneath the sweet top notes lies a rich, velvetine musk, revealing the deep fragrance of the jasmine flowers in full bloom. Despite its natural indolic muskiness, it’s very approachable, not at all sharp or dirty but smooth and sensual with a cool, dewy sweetness.
This is a very natural jasmine with a strong fragrance, just a dot of oil is all you need. I’m not really enough of a jasmine fan to wear it solo, though this one does have quite a bit of nuance. It’s gorgeous with vanillas and creamy scent, and I also love to add just a hint to some of my favorite DSH scents that contain jasmine, especially lovely with Vanilla Botanique.

(Magnolia Flower no.2 (Southern Magnolia))
Magnolia is my Spouse’s favourite floral, specifically the Southern Magnolia. They are really special to them, and it’s been a long and hard journey to find Magnolia-centric perfumes to try.
Imagine my surprise when I found Dawn offered this beauty! No other accords or mixes, just straight Southern Magnolia to try. This. Is. Beautiful. What a gorgeous flower! My Spouse LOVES this perfume! It’s the most accurate Southern Magnolia we’re come across and it’s such a dream! It was very nostalgic for them too, bringing back memories of simpler times. Thank you Dawn, thank you for giving them this beautiful Christmas gift.
Suffice it for me to say, my Spouse owns the sample. 😆
