Inspired by one client’s devotion to a fabled Iris fragrance launched in the 1940’s, ( aka the “Grey Iris”), the Scent of Hope is an iris soliflore fragrance at it’s most voluptuous and luxurious with decadent peach in the top and the kiss of animalics in the drydown.

About This Product

What started out as a bespoke reproduction of a much beloved, almost impossible to get, 1940’s Iris fragrance (“the Grey Iris), has become our new release, the Scent of Hope.

An overdosing of peach gives the impression of incredible softness and approachability at first sniff that gives way to a glorious, true orris heart.  Orris can be rather cold, aloof, and quite melancholy.  But Scent of Hope is not melancholy or aloof.  It is elegant, to be sure, and so, so beautiful but not in a way that you must admire her from an ivory tower.  She comes down to be with you, and hold you close; lovingly.  A rich yet delicate, woody to animalic drydown is revealed as Scent of Hope completes.   It will leave you swooning…it is the stuff that dreams are made of.

*Scent of Hope is only available in extract / parfum concentration and 30% of sales will be donated to Denver-based, Sense of Security, an organization dedicated to helping those coping with breast cancer afford their treatment and living expenses.

*Perfume / Extrait mini roller samples vials are full.

A Perfect fragrance that dances on the skin to Debussy. This is a perfectly blended Iris perfume. A beautiful work of art. I may need a backup bottle.

It made me close my eyes, smile, and say, “ahhh…YES!” It’s gorgeously blended with just the right amount of peach in the top notes. I’ve always thought iris was a cold note, but Scent of Hope is delightfully cozy. It’s a brilliant tribute to Iris Gris. Personally, Scent of Hope is more to my liking.

Jacques Fath is grinning impishly from ear-to-ear about this rich and elegant tribute scent! 🙂

A very true rendering of orris, warm and seductive with its Persicol (peach) note floating above. (Persicol also played a large part in the successes of Guerlain’s Mitsouko and Piguet’s Fracas).

The original Iris Gris was described by Barbara Herman in her Scent & Subversion as peach-scented pastry dough. Scent of Hope does not replicate that olfactory experience, but gives us a different take on the peach/orris combination that is as subtle as a chypre. Worn close to the skin, this is a unique contribution to the world of iris-based scents.

FYI, original notes for the 1947 Fath Iris Gris included: Persicol, Orris, Cedar, Vetiver, Jasmine, Muguet, Heliotrope, Lilac, Musk.

    Highly recommended.

This scent is nirvana! It is a perfect duet of warm peaches and cool iris and violets. This is by far the warmest iris scent I have ever smelled : I just want to soak it in and actually soak in it ( if it came in bath oil form, I’d use it every day). This is one of those rare perfumes that makes me happy just to wear it. I love it!
