About This Product

Inspired by the utterly chic and sophisticated style of the late 1970′s and early 1980′s classic green floral chypre, Vert pour Madame has power but more than that, she has depth. She’s achieved it. As well, Vert pour Madame is the perfect harbinger of Spring with notes of hyacinth, jonquil and lily of the valley sewn into the earth with cedarwood, patchouli and moss.

Vert pour Madame is quite possibly one of the best green fragrances available. It feels delightfully vintage, with a galbanum burst that livens up a beautiful, dusty floral heart (it’s hard to find a lily of the valley note this good). Oh, and the drydown is just so sexy: civet and sandalwood add a sophisticated creaminess to the bouquet. A must-have for anyone who wishes the fragrances of the 70s and early-to-mid 80s would make a comeback.

Vert pour Madame Perfume smells like spring sunshine in a lovely meadow full of flowers. Those flowers are wrapped in fragrant greenery that intertwines and surrounds the floral notes of the fragrance. The earthiness of the woods, moss and patchouli notes weaves its way beautifully throughout the fragrance and makes this a special perfume. On my skin it is not a loud or too sweet scent but it is definitely there, reminding me that spring has come

I am a perfume neophyte so I won’t try to decode the sophisticated nuances of scent that make up this extraordinary perfume, I’ll just describe my emotional response to it which was akin to falling in love. I am literally besotted with this perfume! Despite the above disclaimer, I receive many beautiful perfumes as gifts and I am a bit of a sample addict, yet so often I find that perfumes – even the most expensive or the most natural – tend to have a generic category of scent. Not Madame Vert – it is so specific. It is rich, lush, luxurious and warm. Some reviewers have said that it reminds them of the animalic perfumes of the 1980′s in the best way. I am still somewhat unsure as to the factual meaning of those statements but I understand the emotional meaning, especially if you are of a certain age – this perfume evokes a kind of sensual deliciousness that I have a historical scent memory of, but not recent experience with – until now.
