About This Product

The phrase “ A twilight blue oriental perfume” most captured my imagination from the first time I heard it along with the image of faded flowers along side a bed of gold and silver, attended by a negro page wearing black velvet holding an ivory cane; and the satiny hand of “Clarimonde” as she lay dying. This cool, almost misty scene that might have been a last glimpse of Clarimonde paired with an alternate universe of warm opulence in Venice were always shimmering in my mindʼs eye as I created “Paradise Lost”.
Paradise Lost is a very limited edition: only 13, 5 ml PERFUME vials and Parisian-made, ochre colored Art Nouveau charm bottle sets *(SOLD OUT)  and 9, 5 ml Antique Presentation bottles have been produced.

This fragrance is a study of contradictions. Warm and cold. Ambery and powdery. Resinous and herbal. Classic and contemporary. For a lack of a better word, this perfume is cerebral. It doesn’t fade into the background, but constantly challenges you to capture and hold onto its facets as they emerge, recede, remerge, and then recede again. One moment I get strong herbally floral notes and a cold orris, with a background of incense; a few moments later, i get a buttery myrrh and a warm amber. In some ways, Paradise Lost is very classically structured, yet it also feels very modern. It shimmers between two worlds, the old and the new, and it is simply stunning. I am mildly terrified (for my wallet) that it is such a limited edition, because I’m probably going to have to buy a second bottle. It is not an everyday perfume for me, but for those moments that call for something special. And it is truly special.
