Dawn M. Spencer Hurwitz - Perfumer and Certified Aromatherapist
Dawn M. Spencer Hurwitz is a unique talent and has been called a Perfume Genius by her devoted clientele. Beginning her career as a Painter, Dawn came to Perfumery in 1991. While working at Boston's famed ESSENSE Perfumery (on Posh Newbury Street), she developed her talent for creating perfumes based on Fine Art principles (texture, color, line, light, shape, expression), bringing the Art of Aromatherapy into her fragrances, and sensing what her clients truly want ("a perfume that makes you feel even more like yourself..."). Since the early nineties, Dawn has been busy transforming the ESSENSE perfumery into her online emporium, "dshperfumes.com," as well as developing her innovative lines of ready to wear artisan perfumes under her own label and consulting* for niche marketers, such as Flora Napa Valley, Calypso, Jules & Jane and Zents Spa collection. Dawn's newest collection, Limited Editions by Parfums des Beaux Arts, is the concept line that she has been creating in her studio for the past few years. It is a way to be continually challenged, designing and expanding her horizons, and making her statement. These are Dawn's own signature scents; her personal favorites inspired by Art, Artists, Literature, and the gorgeous world around us.

ABOUT: Our new Boulder Store and Design Studio: the ESSENSE STUDIO
STORE HOURS: Tues-Friday, 11:30 am - 6 pm; Saturday, 10 am - 6 pm; Sunday and Monday: Closed. Directions from Denver and points South of Boulder: Take US 36 West until you reach Boulder and 36 becomes 28th Street. Turn LEFT at Arapahoe Avenue and head West until you reach Broadway. Turn RIGHT on Broadway and head NORTH until you see where YARMOUTH avenue meets Broadway. You will see AMANTE COFFEE to your right and the BOULDER HORSE and RIDER to your left. the ESSENSE STUDIO is located at 4593 North Broadway, next to the horse and rider. Directions from points North of Boulder: Take US 36 East until you reach Boulder. Turn RIGHT on YARMOUTH avenue and go to the end (where Yarmouth meets Broadway). You will see AMANTE COFFEE to your left the ESSENSE STUDIO directly in front of you (across Broadway) from your position. Cross the street and you have arrived. (In the parking lot: see the BOULDER HORSE and RIDER to your left and the ESSENSE STUDIO is on the right; located at 4593 North Broadway).
ABOUT: SMELL & TELL © fragrance consultation: WHAT IS IT? SMELL & TELL is DSH's signature process of skin analysis and fragrance consultation. After applying her own "Special Formula X", DSH will smell your skin as she tells you how fragrances tend to work with your skin and which fragrance families are best (and worst) based on her analysis. DSH will then proceed to demonstrate which of her numerous perfumes would be the best of the best for you... so you can finally have a perfect fit! Through the SMELL & TELL process you will also find out why certain fragrances just don't smell right on you and what would be the best scent style for your unique skin, regardless of the maker. SMELL & TELL is an amazingly fun, very personal and unique experience for men or women.
